County Executive Steve Schuh on Wednesday responded to Anne Arundel voters’ break with his stance on two local ballot questions, calling their rejection of one of them, an effort to raise procurement minimums, “a real setback” for the county.
County voters nixed Charter Question C, which would have increased the minimum value of contracts and purchases required to go through the competitive bidding process, by a 51.5-to-48.5 margin — or a difference of about 6,600 votes.
They also voted overwhelmingly to approve Charter Question D, which requires Schuh and future county executives to hold at least two public hearings before unveiling the annual budget.
