Amazon’s footprint in the DMV could soon expand well beyond Arlington. It’s believed the company wants to build a massive fulfillment center in Prince George’s County. Now, neighbors are voicing concern about the project, on the eve of what could be a crucial vote.
The county planning board has the Westphalia development on the agenda for its Thursday meeting, and could vote to approve the developer’s site plan.
Recent zoning changes cleared the way for developers of the Westphalia Town Center to submit design plans for a four million square foot ‘merchandise logistics center’ that would employ more than 1500 people. The new distribution center would be right off Presidential Parkway, and adjacent to townhomes in Westphalia.
For now, county officials are being tight-lipped about Amazon’s possible involvement.
