The Maryland Public Service Commission is seeking public input about how to improve the state’s electric distribution systems in the future.
The commission plans to hold a series of public meetings and workgroups about topics such as alternative energy sources, affordability and options for consumers and ways technology can improve the electric grid. At the end of what will likely be a two-year process, the commission expects to have clearer priorities and action points for electric providers to improve their operations and customer experience.
The initiative builds on a plan Pepco was required to submit to the commission that details how it will transform its distribution system in the future. The plan was a condition to the commission’s approval of Pepco’s 2015 merger with Exelon Corp., also the parent of Baltimore Gas & Electric Co.
