University of the District of Columbia President Ronald Mason is once again the highest-paid person on the District payroll — but he has some new company in the $300,000 club in 2019.
Mason’s annual salary of $322,354 is tops, and he’s followed by City Administrator Rashad Young, who received a $12,000 bump in 2019 to move his annual compensation to $307,000.
Chief Medical Officer Roger Mitchell ($281,989.13), D.C. Public Schools Chancellor Lewis Ferebee ($280,000), Metro Police Chief Peter Newsham ($273,156) and Medical Director Robert Holman ($262,650) are among the District’s other top earners for 2019.
Dr. Wanda Gnahoui, a medical officer in psychiatry with D.C.’s Department of Behavioral Health, is the highest-paid woman in the District with an annual salary of $260,078.
Mayor Muriel Bowser received a $20,000 raise in 2019, moving her annual salary to $220,000. That’s considerably more than Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan ($180,000) and Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam ($185,000) are earning in 2019.
