Prince George’s County is on the move—in more ways than one. The address was hosted by the Prince George’s Business Roundtable and the Prince George’s County Economic Development Corp. Baker touched on a number of topics during his speech, including the county’s $40M investment in the Largo area over the past four years, the Washington Business Journal reports.
That $40M investment netted a haul of three buildings, which includes a new County Government Center that Baker hopes to see named after former county exec Wayne Curry. The future move, including the Office of the County Executive, was made in part with an eye towards making the offices more accessible to residents.
He also announced a proposed $50M investment in Suitland for a long-planned development project, and shared his vision for the community. “Imagine a walkable, sustainable, transit-oriented mixed-use development and a town center with 700 housing units and 76k SF of retail. Imagine Suitland with a performing arts center that has plays and musical acts. Think of downtown Silver Spring,” Baker said.
