Powerful Md. Lobbying Firm Shuffles Leadership As Partner Departs

A longtime partner is on the way out at Rifkin Weiner Livington, which has in turn announced several leadership changes.

Eric Bryant, who has been a partner at Maryland lobbying power player RWL since 2003 and co-chaired the firm’s government relations division, has left to serve as chief of staff for recently elected U.S. Rep. Kweisi Mfume, the company said Monday.

“We could not be prouder of Eric and all his accomplishments and wish him the best of luck with this new endeavor,” Managing Partner Alan Rifkin said in a statement. “While Eric will be missed, we look forward to our continued work with him now and in the future on the national stage.”

Mfume last month assumed the congressional seat vacated by the late Elijah Cummings, who passed away in October 2019. Bryant served as his campaign manager during the special election cycle, helping Mfume win back his old seat, which he previous held from 1987 to 1996. Mfume will be running for reelection in November once he finishes the current term.
