MGM National Harbor Has A New Leader, Just Shy Of Its First Anniversary

MGM National Harbor has a new day-to-day chief.

Melonie Johnson, who most recently served as president and chief operating officer of MGM’s Gold Strike Casino Resort in Tunica, Mississippi, has been named president and COO of MGM National Harbor — Maryland’s most successful casino on a month-to-month basis by revenue. She starts Monday.

Bill Boasberg, who carried the $1.5 billion MGM National Harbor through its opening and nearly its first year of operations, has been named president and COO of Beau Rivage Resort in Biloxi, Mississippi. Boasberg leaves just shy of MGM National Harbor’s first anniversary. The resort opened Dec. 8, 2016.

Johnson, a University of New Orleans graduate, has a local tie: Before joining MGM in 2015, she served as assistant general manager at Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races in West Virginia. She has also held the interim general manager post at Hollywood Casino Aurora in Illinois and served as regional vice president of operations for Caesars Entertainment Corp.
