Md. House Votes For Paid Sick Days Measure

Maryland workers could earn up to seven paid sick days a year, under a measure approved by the House of Delegates.
The House voted 84-54 on Tuesday for the bill.

Workers could earn one hour of paid sick time for every 30 hours they work, up to seven full sick days a year. The House bill would apply to workers at companies with at least 15 employees.

Maryland law does not require private-sector employers to provide employees with paid or unpaid sick leave.

A bill to require paid sick leave has not been acted on in the Senate. Maryland’s legislative session is scheduled to end Monday at midnight.
