Gov. Larry Hogan touts Maryland as a national leader in minority and women-owned enterprises. But the state’s national ranking in terms of the number of minority- and women-owned businesses operating in Maryland is a bit more complicated.
“Maryland is proud to lead the nation in minority- and women-owned businesses, and our administration is committed to supporting our small business job creators with proven strategies to ensure their long-term success,” Hogan said in a statement issued by the Maryland Department of Commerce announcing the award of $5.4 million in financing to 12 small and minority-owned businesses.
