Maryland Medical Marijuana Commission Chief To Resign

The executive director of the Maryland medical marijuana commission is stepping down, as the state’s first crop of dispensaries and growers are preparing to debut.

Patrick Jameson plans to resign, effective Nov. 30.

Jameson, a former state trooper, became executive director in April 2016 at a time when the Natalie M. LaPrade Medical Cannabis Commission was dealing with repeated delays with licensing growers, processors and dispensaries.

Brian Lopez, chairman of the commission, said in an interview Thursday he didn’t know why Jameson resigned.

“I wish him the best of luck,” Lopez said. “He has done a lot but it was his decision.”
