Maryland Casinos’ December Figures Show Second-Best Revenue Month Ever

Maryland’s six casinos generated $141 million in December, the second-best revenue month since the first casino opened in the state in 2010.

The near-record month was led by MGM National Harbor, which reported $56.5 million from table games and slot machines, according to figures released Friday by the Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Agency.

December marked MGM’s first anniversary. The casino, in Prince George’s County across the Potomac River from Virginia, saw revenue increase by 34.9 percent from December 2016. That was an abbreviated first month for the $1.4 billion casino, which opened on Dec. 8 and drew 170,000 people its first week.

Maryland’s casino revenue record was set in March — $141.2 million, which tops last month’s total by $131,988.
