An expanded event center at the Live Casino & Hotel in Anne Arundel County is almost ready for showtime.
The Hall at Live, a 75,000-square-foot performance venue attached to the Hanover casino and hotel, is expected to be fully operational by New Year’s Eve and will host a handful of preliminary “burn-in” shows next month, officials from the Cordish Cos., the casino’s owner, said Wednesday.
The concert hall is the result of about a year’s worth of construction work and even more time spent on political wrangling over government support for the project. The Anne Arundel County Council ultimately decided to waive local property taxes on the venue and Live Hotel for 30 years in exchange for a promise that the space will be made available for community events and local high school and community college graduation ceremonies.
At a hard-hat preview tour of the space Wednesday, county officials and casino representatives came together to laud the concert hall’s anticipated effect on the region.
