Maryland will move further into stage two of the state’s reopening plan over the next two weeks with reopening dates now set for many activities, including indoor dining, casinos, malls and gyms.
Hogan announced the further loosening of restrictions Wednesday evening, saying Maryland has “crushed the curve” and every important health metric relating to coronavirus has continued to trend down. As with past stages of Hogan’s reopening plan, local jurisdictions can choose to reopen at their own rate.
The following changes will go into effect at 5 p.m. Friday:
* Indoor dining can reopen at 50% capacity with appropriate public health protocol, such as not allowing buffets, in place.
* Outdoor amusements and rides, miniature golf and go-carts can resume.
* Outdoor pools can now open at 50% after being allowed to open at 25% on May 29.
* Local school systems are encouraged to hold graduation ceremonies, with appropriate capacity and distancing requirements in place.
Furthermore, starting at 5 p.m. June 19:
* Gyms and other indoor fitness activities like dance studios and martial arts studios can resume at 50% capacity.
* Casinos, arcades and malls can reopen at 50% capacity.
