Welcome to our Power 100 list this year — it’s of the Washington area’s playmakers, our list of the most influential or newsmaker business leaders who moved something forward or made headlines in 2016.
We had a lot of fun putting this list together. It certainly shows the diversity and breadth of the Washington business community, and this year we included public officials who have impacted the region’s business scene.
We highlight major companies — think Marriott (NASDAQ: MAR) and Lockheed (NYSE: LMT) — but don’t forget about smaller entrepreneurs, like the brothers who got Bryce Harper to don one of their company’s T-shirts to a trio of Maryland students who have given us tea-infused coffee.
You also get a sense of the massive projects our region is fortunate enough to boast, from the coming MGM National Harbor and The Wharf to the just-opened National Museum of African American History and Culture.
