Here’s Why Prince George’s Needs A Decision On An FBI HQ By The End Of The Year

Prince George’s County Executive Rushern Baker is pushing Maryland’s congressional delegation to get a decision on a new FBI headquarters before the end of the year — while the Free State has the clout. Because come 2017, Maryland will lose one of its staunchest advocates in Sen. Barbara Mikulski, D, and Virginia could gain a heavy hitter if Sen. Tim Kaine becomes vice president.

“We’re very aware that Sen. Mikulski has a very big footprint for such a small lady and that, if Secretary Hillary Clinton wins, you’ll have a very active and close relationship potentially between the White House and [Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe],” Baker said.

Kaine, Virginia’s junior senator, is Hillary Clinton’s vice presidential running mate. Politics and timing, Baker said, are very much in play.
