GSA Pulls Plug On Reagan Building Management Solicitation After Legal Dispute

The General Services Administration has scrapped its search for a new firm to manage and oversee leasing at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center, nearly three years after floating the prospect.

The decision leaves open the question of who will take over at 1300 Pennsylvania Ave. NW once the facility’s current contract, valued at up to $220 million, expires a little more than a year from now.

The GSA offered no explanation for its decision to cancel the pair of solicitations, a request for information going back to December 2014 and a more recent request for proposals issued in November 2016, other than to say that it has been determined that both, as structured, were not in the best interest of the government to proceed.

But, in a statement, a GSA spokesperson said the agency is “currently evaluating alternative structures for suitability to current market conditions.”
