The state’s secretary of human resources will take over as Gov. Larry Hogan’s new chief of staff.
Sam Malhotra succeeds Craig A. Williams, who has accepted a senior level position at Johns Hopkins. Williams has served as Hogan’s chief of staff since the Republican governor took office in 2014.
Malhotrawill move into his new position on Oct. 26. In his current position as secretary of the Department of Human Resources, Malhotra manages a $2.6 billion state agency with more than 6,500 employees.
