Former Mayor Pugh ‘Trying To Put Together A Normal Life,’ Friends Say

Friends of former Baltimore Mayor Catherine Pugh say her health has improved and she is “trying to put together a normal life,” following her resignation amid the investigation of her book-deal scandal, The Baltimore Sun reports.

Friends of Pugh told the Sun that she is trying to keep a low profile as she continues to heal and the investigations of her self-published book deals continue.

“She’s under [a] doctor’s care and making progress,” Pugh’s friend Betty Clark told the Sun. “I see her on a regular basis. She’s trying to put together a normal life.”

Weeks prior to her resignation amid the scandal in early May, Pugh had been hospitalized with pneumonia.

“Physically she’s just about 100% back. She’s trying to figure out what to do with the rest of her life,” Mark McLaurin, a colleague of 69-year-old Pugh, told the Sun.

Pugh’s lawyer, Steven Silverman, did not respond to the Sun’s request to interview the former mayor.
