The RFK Stadium campus could become home to a riverfront arena for the Washington Wizards and Capitals as well as a new 65,000-seat stadium for Washington’s NFL team, The Washington Post reports.
Those are among the proposals outlined by Events D.C., the District’s sports and conventions authority, which will unveil the plans Monday night at a community meeting.
Architects with the Dutch design firm OMA, retained by the District in October 2015, generated two broad design concepts that reimagine the 190-acre site under three scenarios, The Post reports.
One includes an NFL stadium, one features a 20,000-seat arena, and one has no sports anchor but features cultural attractions such as a concert hall.
All of the proposals include recreation facilities for D.C. residents.
