Baltimore has received a five-year, $1.25 million federal grant aimed at helping more minority- and women-owned businesses have opportunities in the manufacturing industry.
The grant, awarded by the the U.S. Department of Commerce Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA), will help fund an advanced manufacturing center in the region.
Christine Bivens said, director of minority- and women-owned business development in in Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake’s office, said specific details of the project are not yet available. A project director will be soon be appointed to work with the companies and departments involved.
