Greenbelt, MD (March 19, 2019)— BUILD Prince George’s is demonstrating its commitment to developing companies interested in business opportunities in Prince George’s County and the surrounding Washington, DC metropolitan region through its inaugural cohort of the BUILD Capacity Development Fund. The BUILD Capacity Development Fund was established to provide BUILD Prince George’s members with $1,000 each towards support services.
“At BUILD Prince George’s, we understand the value of strengthening a business’s infrastructure to enable that business to successfully compete in the marketplace,” says Eben Smith, Executive Director. “We still see businesses that need help with capacity building and infrastructure. The BUILD Capacity Development Fund grants businesses an opportunity to jumpstart that process utilizing our seasoned team of experts to provide a blueprint for success.”
The areas of support will be identified through the completion of the BUILD Prince George’s Support Services Survey and will be facilitated by BUILD Prince George’s experienced consultants. Selected members will also receive one invaluable 90-minute session with the BUILD Prince George’s Strategic Advisory Panel, experts in various disciplines who will provide advice and guidance to strengthen our member’s business models.
“With legislation such as the Jobs First and Jobs and Opportunities Act in Prince George’s County, we have to ensure our businesses have the capabilities, infrastructure and leadership to take advantage of the business opportunities that result from these laws,” said Michael Burke, Chairman of the BUILD Prince George’s corporate board.
Businesses that join BUILD Prince George’s through April 30, 2019 will be entered into a random drawing where ten members will be selected for the first cohort. Each selected member will be notified by a BUILD Prince George’s Member Services Representative. A subsequent meeting will be scheduled to review the BUILD Prince George’s Support Services Survey with each of the selected members to determine the support services that will be provided. Support services include but aren’t limited to the following: accounting, taxes, financial management, human resources, marketing/branding, strategic planning, sales, business development, leadership development, and wealth management.
