The school board has approved giving two years worth of salary to Prince George’s County Public Schools CEO Dr. Kevin Maxwell as part of his severance package.
The deal that was negotiated would give Maxwell $790,000 in severance pay along with his remaining paid leave.
At a school board meeting Thursday night, seven board members voted for Maxwell’s severance deal while two others voted against it. Two board members abstained from the vote.
Prince George’s County Board of Education chair Dr. Segun Eubanks, who negotiated this agreement, refused to speak about the severance deal along with Dr. Maxwell, who left after the school board’s executive session.
Eubanks left with two security guards after the school board meeting Thursday night and would not answer FOX 5’s questions about what he would say to Prince George’s County taxpayers regarding Maxwell’s severance.
After the vote, school board members David Murray and Edward Burroughs called on Eubanks to resign.
