Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake on Thursday announced the creation of a committee aimed at advising the city on policies impacting small businesses.
Concurrently, the mayor’s office launched a new online tool linking entrepreneurs and business owners to local, regional and state resource partners. Dubbed Baltimore SourceLink, the online search tool is an initiative of the Baltimore Development Corp.’s Small Business Resource Center. The tool is licensed from U.S.SourceLink, a national program initially funded by the U.S. Small Business Administration, Kauffman Foundation, and University Missouri-Kansas City.
The mayor’s office says the Small Business Action Committee was formed to improve advocacy and “ensure a voice for Baltimore’s diverse small business community” within City Hall. The group will review and comment on local and state legislation that affects small business and advocate for policy changes at the local and state level. The committee will also serve as a resource for entrepreneurs interested in doing business in Baltimore City.
