Amazon will open a warehouse in Cecil County that is expected to bring hundreds of jobs to the area. Located in North East, the fulfillment center will be responsible for preparing large items like kayaks and big-screen TVs for shipment.
The fulfillment center is expected to create 700 jobs. Employees will be eligible for benefits as of their first day, company officials said in a statement.
The center in North East will be state of the art and continue a period of growth for the company, which opened a similar center near Dundalk in 2015.
Amazon’s expansion in Maryland is “testament to our state’s growing economy,” Gov. Larry Hogan said in a statement.
The fulfillment center will occupy 1.2 million square feet of space at Principio Commerce Center I in North East.
