There have been, and will continue to be, mini-milestones in the $1.3 billion project that is MGM National Harbor. Excavating 500,000 cubic yards of soil was one. Driving more than 6,000 foundation piles was another. Or completing the 5,000-space garage. Or topping out the hotel.
Another is taking place as we speak: the MGM initials going up across the very top of MGM National Harbor’s 24-story, 308-room hotel. The final letter, the first “M,” is scheduled to be installed Thursday.
For passers-by to whom the Oxon Hill project was a mystery, it certainly won’t be anymore. The exact dimensions of each letter aren’t known, but they appear to be roughly two stories tall.
