Forbes magazine has released its annual list of the 400 richest Americans, and eight billionaires from Maryland made the list — an increase of one from a year ago. New to the exclusive list is Jim Davis of Cockeysville, who made his fortune as co-founder and chairman of staffing company Allegis Group, which he started with his cousin, fellow billionaire Stephen Bisciotti.
Chevy Chase developer and Washington Nationals owner Ted Lerner retains the highest placing in the state, while investor Mitchell Rales of Potomac climbed to the No. 2 spot. Under Armour founder Kevin Plank slid from second place to fifth among Maryland’s uber-wealthy. And Dan Snyder, the owner of the Washington Redskins, saw his ranking drop to last among his fellow Marylanders.
